Biden Ends Re-Election Bid, Endorses Harris
Former Vice President Kamala Harris is now the presumptive Democratic nominee for President.
President Biden made the announcement today, saying that he believes Harris is the best person to lead the country.
Biden has been trailing former President Donald Trump in the national polling average almost every day this year. He has also faced a deficit in early state polls and has been struggling to raise money.
In a statement, Biden said that he believes Harris is the best person to lead the country.
"Kamala Harris is a brilliant, compassionate, and experienced leader," Biden said. "She has the judgment, the experience, and the character to be an outstanding President."
Harris, 57, is a former senator from California and the first woman and first African American to serve as Vice President.
She is now the presumptive Democratic nominee for President. The general election will be held on November 5, 2024.
