Miikka Kiprusoff Tribute Goalie Mask Unveiled
Calgary Flames Legend Honored with Custom Creation
By Brendan Peters
The Calgary Flames are set to unveil a special tribute goalie mask in honor of legendary netminder Miikka Kiprusoff. Created by renowned artist Brendan Peters, the mask will be presented to Kiprusoff at a ceremony on Saturday, March 4th, at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Peters, who is better known as "Mini Kipper," had the privilege of presenting Kiprusoff with his first custom painted goalie mask last year. The mask featured intricate details paying homage to Kiprusoff's career and legacy with the Flames, including references to his Vezina Trophy win and his role in leading the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004.
This latest mask is a continuation of Peters' passion for honoring hockey legends through his artistry. The mask features a stunning Flames-themed design, with Kiprusoff's signature butterfly pads and his iconic number 34 prominently displayed.
Kiprusoff, who retired from the NHL in 2013, is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalies in Flames history. His jersey was retired by the team in 2018, and he was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019.
The unveiling of Kiprusoff's tribute goalie mask is set to be a special moment for Flames fans, who will have the opportunity to take photos with the mask on the main concourse at the Saddledome.
